April 10, 2021

Today we launched K6 'Falcon', the 1950's International One Design that we have been restoring for the last 12 months, and took for for a shake down sail on the Deben to fine tune the plans for how her running rigging should work and identify any snags.

The whole team have really thrown their all into this project, our largest to date since the yard's change of ownership and management just under two years ago. Along with everybody else this past year, we've had our share of adversity but we are very proud of the boat that we have delivered to a very happy customer.

Over the course of her time with us, she has received one new plank under the waterline, new shear planks made of Lignia (we suspect that she may well be the first boat anywhere to have Lignia planking), a new Lignia on ply deck, new transom, new stem, lots of new ribs and frames, all new deck beams, new wooden spars with custom mirror polished stainless steel fittings and new rigging to list just the major jobs! This is also the first time that she has ever had varnished topsides, always having been painted before.

She'll come ashore again later this week to be finished and then, in May, be launched to sail down to the south coast where she will have the wide expanses of water to enjoy her performance.
