Marine Engineer or Marine Electrician

Full-time position covering our Woodbridge and Waldringfield boatyards (IP12 4BB and IP12 4QZ). We pride ourselves on the variety of work that we carry out which ranges from installing new marine equipment to repairing and servicing of existing, working on a variety of craft including modern yachts, classic yachts, and commercial craft, along with carrying out plant maintenance on our tractors and cranes.

Whilst we proudly carry out a lot of training and development of our team, we are at this time looking for an engineer who is already experienced and knowledgeable. Pay will be determined by this level of experience.

Deben Cruises - Crew

Deben Cruises aboard the ‘MV Jahan’ carry up to 48 passengers at a time and our guests need to be looked after!

Tea, coffee, cake and biscuits are served aboard most cruises and the crew take responsibility for this as well as the general wellfare and enjoyment of the passengers.

The position is part-time and flexible.

Boatbuilders

We are looking for full-time boatbuilders to come and join our Woodbridge and Waldringfield boatyards (IP12 4BB and IP12 4QZ). We pride ourselves on the variety of work that we carry out which ranges from the repair and restoration of yachts and powerboats to the building of new spars and clinker dinghies. At any time, it is not unusual to find a great selection of clinker, carvel, hot moulded, cold moulded, GRP and steel vessels all being worked on concurrently in our workshops. A candidate will need to show competence and experience in a variety of boatbuilding skills, from hull planking to spar making and fitting teak decks. They will have good knowledge and skill in all areas of joinery and they will take pride in their work and have a good attention to detail and level of accuracy. They will be confident using fixed machinery and hand tools. They will be competent in all aspects of boat assembly and will be hard working and reliable with a reasonable knowledge of Health & safety. These are full-time positions; the rate of pay will be determined by the level of experience.

Deben Cruises - Skippers

Running since 1984 Deben Cruises is a long established and well-loved river trip business operated from and by our Waldringfield Boatyard. We operate upwards of 100 trips a year, offering an entertaining and informative commentary whilst navigating downriver to Felixstowe Ferry and Bawdsey or upriver to Woodbridge.

Skippers must carry the MCA Boatmaster Lv. 2 qualification with specific local training. Those who do not currently hold a Boatmaster licence but who hold other vessel handling tickets may apply but will have to gain the necessary qualifications before being able to become a skipper.

Hours are flexible and the role could be full-time, part-time or seasonal.

Potential skippers are asked to detail relevant experience and qualifications in the application.

Painter and Finisher

Full-time position covering our Woodbridge and Waldringfield boatyards (IP12 4BB and IP12 4QZ). Working on a variety of craft ranging from traditional dinghies to modern and classic yachts and commercial craft, you will be responsible for the preparations and painting and finishing of boats. This will include planning the prep work in an efficient manner, organising the materials required in advance for the project, filling, sanding, fairing, masking and finally painting and varnishing to a very high standard.

The candidates will take pride in their work and have a good attention to detail and level of accuracy. Prior experience is not necessary as training is available. Pay will be determined by level of experience.
